Veterans
HUD-VASH rooms. We run the house. VA keeps the rest.
If you are a Veteran, or you refer Veterans, this page is the product. Beneficial accepts VA program referrals into shared houses. We are not veteran-only housing. We are not mental-health housing. VA keeps case management and care.
What we accept
- HUD-VASH when the PHA will do shared housing and the Veteran chooses it
- SSVF referrals when the grantee approves navigation or deposit help. We do not pay those costs and we do not guarantee them
- Housing Choice Vouchers in other houses we operate, when the PHA allows shared housing
What we do not do
- Enroll anyone in HUD-VASH or SSVF
- Require shared living. Shared housing is a choice
- Mix clinical conditions into the lease
- Market diagnosis-specific or SMI-only units
For Veterans
You get a private room and a separate lease. HUD-VASH rooms in Fresno and nearby counties are the same product: we run the house. If you are looking for HUD-VASH housing near you, this is it. Does HUD-VASH allow roommates? You can say no to a roommate house. That choice is yours, not ours.
For case managers
Send a referral, not a diagnosis, unless you are requesting a reasonable accommodation. We screen to a written Fair Housing standard. Housing First: tenancy is not conditioned on therapy.
For the program in plain language, read What is HUD-VASH housing. For rooms we are building, see voucher rooms in the Central Valley.
Questions
For Veterans and the people who refer them.
Who determines HUD-VASH eligibility?
The VA determines Veteran and program eligibility. Beneficial cannot enroll anyone in HUD-VASH or SSVF.
Does HUD-VASH allow roommates?
Shared living is the Veteran's choice. It is not a requirement of HUD-VASH or SSVF. Each Veteran has a separate lease.
What is SSVF housing here?
SSVF may refer a Veteran and, when the grantee approves, help with deposits and navigation. Beneficial does not pay those costs or guarantee them.
Is this veteran-only housing?
This product accepts VA program referrals. It is not veteran-only housing and not mental-health housing. Non-veteran voucher holders are housed in other residences we operate.
Do you provide clinical care?
No. VA keeps case management and care. We operate the house. We screen to a written Fair Housing standard.
